Winter Activities Set to Start Up Soon

It’s the most wonderful time of the year

with winter sports in full swing

and everyone saying “we’re number one!”

It’s the most wonderful time of the year

It’s the hap-happiest season of all

With maroon cup matches and loud student sections

Where fans come to cheer

It’s the hap-happiest season of all

There’ll be tournaments for hosting

And Diamonds for dancing

And New World caroling for a show

There’ll be dunks by bball boys

And tales of the glories

From winter activities long, long ago

It’s the most wonderful time of the year

There’ll be excited students

And hearts will be glowing

When discoverers win

It’s the most wonderful time of the year

There’ll be swimmers breaking records

And cheers by cheerleaders

Saying “Go Discoverers, Go!”

There’ll be wrestlers getting pins

And tales of the glories

From winter activities long, long ago

It’s the most wonderful time of the year

with winter sports in full swing

and everyone saying “we’re number one”

It’s the most wonderful time

It’s the most wonderful time

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

Winter activities are upon us! It’s that time of year again to watch wrestling, boys’ and girls’ basketball and swimming, the Diamond Dancers, and the cheerleaders.

Junior, Anthony Deanda, is looking forward to getting back into wrestling season with his teammates that are also his close friends. Deanda is working toward improving his finish at state from runner-up to champion. Deanda will start that journey at home duals which will have new improvements and excitement factors.

Senior, Alyssa Turner, is also looking forward to becoming closer with her teammates. She is excited to get back on the court playing basketball with her team! Turner had shoulder surgery last year and wants to be able to start by the end of the season. Junior, Sam Nelson, is looking forward playing Norfolk at home for the Maroon Cup. He is also excited that Columbus High will be hosting the GNAC Conference Basketball tournament. Nelson’s goal for his team is get 13 wins in the season.
