We all love Christmas season: the evergreens and other decorations fill everyone with joy! One subject about Christmas is argued a lot. This topic is Christmas music. So, when is it too early to play Christmas music?
People play Christmas music before Thanksgiving. Others even play it before spooky season. Some people think these holidays are considered too soon to play Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, but I would like to argue. In my opinion, I think the the beginning of October is alright, but hear me out. A lot of people share special moments around Christmas time and are reminded of these moments during Christmas season. Others just like the tunes, and I respect that. Although I do not play Christmas music until late November, I do not mind others playing it around me.
People may argue there is Halloween music for a reason, but Halloween is the complete opposite of Christmas. Christmas is supposed to be loving and cute, not scary. Thanksgiving music is a little better, but no regular person can name an iconic Thanksgiving song like naming an iconic Christmas one: it just isn’t done.
I get that it can be bothersome, but you don’t have to comment on every Christmas song that you hear. So, let people play Christmas music whenever they want. If they want to listen to Christmas jingles in October, let them. You never know the story behind why they want to play them so early.
