On the way to districts

On Friday, Oct. 5, the Discoverers made their way to conference in North Platte. The teams competing against the Discoverers were Hastings, McCook, North Platte, Gering, and Scottsbluff.

Unlike many other meets, the discoverers ran in fairly nice weather. Overall, the boys and the girls performed well. The boys placed second as a team with a score of 34, and the girls placed fourth with a score of 71. This was a huge accomplishment for the boys as it was their highest placing meet.

The boys had some amazing individual finishes. Our lead runner was sophomore Joe McFarland, taking fifth place overall with a time of 17:44. Right behind him was junior Douglas Davidchick in sixth place with a time of 17:47, followed closely by sophomore Abel Leon in ninth place with a time of 17:59.

The girls did not stay behind. They had some great finishes too. Sophomore Beatriz Garcia finished in fourteenth place with a time of 22:36. Freshman Jenna Warner placed eighteenth with a time of 23:03. Right behind her in nineteenth place, freshman Samantha Pike finished with a time of 23:06.

The team’s goal is to qualify for state. Therefore, they would like to be one of the top three teams as a whole at districts. The discoverers will be heading to districts on Thursday, Oct.11. Good luck guys, and as always go Discoverers!

I'm new to the newspaper team this year. I enjoy watching Netflix shows like The Vampire Diaries, How to Get Away with Murder, Riverdale, Beauty and the Beast, and One Tree Hill. I also enjoy going on vacations to tropical places, sleeping, and eating. My favorite candy bar is twix. You might find me sprinting or high jumping in track..
