Discoverers Drive into the Season Strong

The Discoverers golf team is off to a great season. Coach Robertson is on her twenty first season leading the girls’ golf team. team has already completed seven competitions. The team has been doing good things lately with even more room for improvements to come in the upcoming competitions.

Senior Aspen Luebbe leads the team in scores this season.

“Aspen is one of the top players in the state. She is a contender for a top five or better finish at state this year,” said Robertson. Luebbe has broken the school record for the 18 home course and tied the records for 18 and 9 holes on the away course. Luebbe looks forward to continuing to improve through the rest of the season.

Seniors Amber Sanne and Wendy Castillo, along with junior Ashely Warner and freshman Jacey Hughes round out the rest of the varsity team. Robertson says all the girls have been improving a lot and continue to shoot better scores. Coach Robertson’s goal for the team this year is to try to make it to state not just as individuals but as a team.

See the Discoverers putt and chip their way to state at the GNAC conference tournament in Hastings and the district tournament on Oct. 1 here in Columbus at Elks Country Club.

This is my first year being a part of  newspaper. I am involved in volleyball, tennis, intramural basketball, National Honor Society, Circle of Friends, C-Club, CHS 101 Mentors, Student Council, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. My favorite candy is Reese’s and I'm looking forward to the rest of senior year!
