A day for them

Friday, November 11 is the day our country celebrates the veterans who sacrificed their lives for ours. The Greater Johnstown School District gathered at Eastside Elementary for a Veteran’s Day Breakfast to honor them.

Johnstown High’s soccer, cheer, football, journalism, and Key club went to this event. They helped the veterans to their tables and got them coffee and breakfast.

One of the veterans had a hard time speaking, but he enjoyed the company of the students who talked to him. Another veteran stated, “It amazes me how these young adults came out here to help us celebrate our day and to make it feel special for us.” The student’s then sat down and listened to the speeches that were made by some of the faculty and staff in the district.

They ended the event helping the veterans throw away their empty plates after they ate their free breakfast. Key Club stayed after and took down the tables and the chairs to clean up after the event. It was a memorable day.

I am a sophomore at Greater Johnstown high school. I am in the Associates Degree in high school program and also, I am in interact club, journalism, school and travel softball, and I have my own photography business.
