Movies in 2023

Movies in the past years have been slow in coming out and crowd-pleasing. This year is a change, this year many exciting movies are coming out and they are sure to leave the audience wanting more.

Megan-  After losing her sister and brother-in-law in a car crash, toy-maker Gemma finds herself responsible for her niece, Cady. Gemma decides to take on her own project in the aftermath of this tragedy. M3GAN is an AI designed to be a child's friend, guardian, and even protector. Gemma makes it M3GAN's duty to protect Cady at all times. Eventually, the robot becomes VERY protective over Cady - some would even say jealous of her friends. This jealousy leads to a thriller worth watching. M3Gan is currently playing at a theater near you.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie - Mario has been a global symbol for a long time, and now he's getting the feature film treatment. The movie stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Anna Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi and many more. Mario and his brother Luigi travel all around to try and save the beloved princess peach from the horrifying Bowser. They get into many troubles along the way and make many new friends. This movie will come out on April 7, 2023.

The Little Mermaid - The next classic Disney film to get the "live-action" treatment takes viewers "Under the Sea" and makes them "Part of (that) world"! Ariel, the curious mermaid, discovers a handsome prince and is, naturally, intrigued by him. After his ship wrecks, Prince Eric fell into the ocean, and Ariel saved him. The story follows their adventures while they fall in love. The live-action version follows the same storyline, but gives a real-life twist. With Halle Bailey as Ariel, we are in for an exciting movie. The Little Mermaid comes out on May 26, 2023.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny - While not much is known about the latest film in the Indiana Jones franchise, we do know that in the past movies Indiana Jones played by Harrison Ford has gone on adventures looking for a titular "McGuffin,," or an object in a movie that serves merely as a catalyst for the plot. In the Raiders of the Lost Ark, he was looking for the Ark of the Covenant. In The Temple of Doom, he was looking for the Sankara Stones. Preliminary research suggests that the Dial of Destiny is the real-life Antikythera Mechanism. The Antikythera Mechanism is a man-powered, Ancient Greek orrery, or solar model. In the trailer, we can see that part of the movie occurs underwater, the location of the Antikythera Mechanism recovery in 1902. Dial of Destiny is Ford's last ride as the beloved archaeologist, so you don't want to miss this fantastic adventure. The movie is slated for a theatrical release on June 30, 2023.

Evil Dead Rise - Fans of the Evil Dead Franchise have a new movie to add to their lists.  This supernatural film follows the mother of three Ellie and her sister, Beth. Sadly their reunion was cut short when a mysterious book is found that gives life to flesh-possessing demons. Now Beth, Ellie, and her kids have to fight for their lives when a demon threatens their family with the most horrific motherhood possible. For people who love thrillers, this is definitely one to put on the top of your list. Evil Dead Rise comes out on April 21st, 2023.
