She Said / She Said: The Best Thanksgiving Pie
Carys: (French Silk Pie and Apple Pie)
Every year Thanksgiving is a season for spending time with family and eating delicious food. Everyone’s favorite part of this tasty meal is dessert. Some popular desserts around this time are cakes, cookies, and pies. The true debate is what pies are best to enjoy with your Thanksgiving festivities. In this week’s She Said/She Said, we will debate which pies are the best to enjoy on Thanksgiving. I believe french silk and apple pie are the best pies for this fall holiday.
If you love the chocolatey taste of Oreos and the smooth taste of whipped cream, French Silk pie is the dessert for you. French silk pie consists of an oreo cookie crust, chocolate cream filling, and a garnish of hardened chocolate swirls. French Silk. must be refrigerated when not being eaten to truly capture the delicious taste. This pie is not only enjoyable plain, but it can also be devourable with toppings such as additional whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and even coconut!
Admittedly, French Silk pie is a dessert that can be enjoyed at any point in the year. However, it’s an especially appropriate ending for the traditional Thanksgiving meal. There’s something extra gratifying about being surrounded by friends and family, all full to the brim from the Thanksgiving feast, chewing the fat about those things in life for which we can be thankful while also chewing the last remaining pieces of Oreo crust or chocolate mousse filling. If the warm feelings that accompany this chilled dessert aren't enough to warrant its inclusion at your Thanksgiving meal, consider this: it’s beyond easy to make. A basic Google search yields over 21 million results that show how easy this pie is to make and enjoy.
If you are into the fruitier side of desserts, then apple pie is another treat to include at your Thanksgiving meal! With a tasty apple filling and a slight touch of cinnamon, this pie is a delight for the taste buds. Apple pie can be served with anything of your choosing. Some of the most popular toppings are whipped cream, cinnamon, or even a slice of cheddar cheese! Perfect for your Thanksgiving dinner, it can bode well with your cranberry sauce, bread rolls, or even stuffing. In my opinion, apple pie is the perfect dessert any time of the year for fruit lovers and anyone who just wants to eat a classic dessert.
While the pairings above may sound delightful, no other topping can compete with simple vanilla ice cream. This pair of desserts together creates a mixture of sweetness and chill that go together excellently in your mouth.
To conclude, french silk and apple pie are definitely the best pies to enjoy during thanksgiving time or all year long. With several ways to spice up the desserts and make them taste excellent each time, these pies will never get too old or eaten too much.
Olivya: (Pumpkin Pie and Banana Cream Pie)
While French Silk and Apple Pie maybe some common desserts for family and friend gatherings, what about pumpkin and banana cream pie? As we all know, Pumpkin Pie is one of the most known desserts for a lovely Thanksgiving evening. It definitely brings the word Fall to the dinner table and banana cream pie is not only a pie for Thanksgiving, but it can for sure, be a great pie for other huge events. I mean I took the Banana Cream Pie over a cake on MY BIRTHDAY because it is THAT good!
One of the most classic pies to eat around Thanksgiving is pumpkin pie. This dessert has a classic pie crust and is filled with pumpkin filling. This pie is an easy dessert to make especially if you already have pumpkins at home leftover from Halloween. Pumpkin pie can be served well with many delicious toppings such as whipped cream, caramel sauce, pecans, and many other delightful delicacies. To keep the tasty flavor of pumpkin pie, make sure to keep it refrigerated when not being enjoyed by you or your family.
Equally important, is another pie that banana lovers can snack on - the banana cream pie. The Banana Cream Pie consists of a graham cracker crust layered with banana slices and fluffy banana filling. The top is also whipped well and garnished with banana slices. I think that this pie is honestly the best when it is served in small portions so that you can savor it even after a Thanksgiving event.
Overall, if you are looking for splendid desserts to satisfy for Thanksgiving day, then I recommend trying these amazing pies for yourself. If you do not want to take the time out of your day to complete one of these sweet dishes, then you can most definitely find them at your local stores such as Walmart, Hyvee, etc. I promise you will not be disappointed.
