2021 Met Gala Review: Well-Dressed

2021 Met Gala Review

Despite all the drama and interviews, there were many well-dressed celebrities that rocked some dazzling outfits at this year’s Independence-themed New York Metropolitan Museum of Art Gala. However, based on what the internet brings us, many fans had different celebrities in mind for who was best dressed. Well, here at Anchor News, we have our own standards for fashion and beauty.  Here’s our list of the top five favorite outfits from this year’s Met Gala.

First, one of our favorite celebrities was Billie Eilish. Eilish wore this outstanding, flowing nude tulle dress from Oscar de la Renta. Eilish was really excited to show off her new style at the Met Gala, and people were amazed, to say the least. Vogue described the dress as “very clean and sensual.”  Although Billie Eilish might not be everyone’s favorite artist or celebrity, anyone would have to admit that she rocked that dress on Met Gala night.

Another Anchor News favorite was actor Timotheé Chalamet. Chalamet pulled off a silky white ensemble from designer Haider Ackermann. Ackermann has designed many celebrity outfits for the red carpets and vogue covers, and Chalamet’s outfit was among the best. Chalamet’s outfit included a satin tuxedo jacket with white converse. He always seems to pull off unusual outfits, but this classic, yet modern look is one of the reasons why he is frequently mentioned among the best dressed at Galas past.

To follow, Rihanna wore an outstanding matte black Balenciaga coat from the designer Stephen Jones Millinery. To go with her outfit, Rihanna wore a shimmery diamond necklace, earrings, bracelets, and a floral diamond headpiece with a black beanie on top. Impressively, Rihanna sported a nearly six-foot-tall accessory in the form of her new boyfriend, A$AP Rocky, who wore a similar outfit to match.

One of our top favorites from the night was model Kendall Jenner. Rihanna was not the only one rocking precious stones. Jenner wore a sheer dress with frond-shaped diamonds that flowed with the look. Vogue claims the dress was inspired by Audrey Hepburn's famous outfit in “My Fair Lady,” and designed by Givenchy went so far as to employ very similar jewelry to complete the ensemble. While some thought Meghan Fox rocked the translucent outfit with more pizazz, the uniqueness of Jenner's diamonds and sheer dress made hers the clearly superior outfit.

Lastly, our favorite stunning celebrity that joined the Met Gala evening was Emma Chamberlain. According to her fans, Chamberlain is the most real and relatable YouTuber around. The 20-year-old YouTuber has been big since she started at 16 years old. She made her appearance at the Gala wearing a two-piece gold Louis Vuitton dress designed by Nicolas Ghesquiére. Her dress consisted of many cutouts and chain links. The top piece was designed to look like diamonds that were melted together in the center of her chest and her gold and diamond skirt was made short but was enhanced by a train on one side of the glamorous dress. Chamberlain topped off her outfit with gold hoop earrings to give her a 70s look.

Needless to say, this year’s Met Gala was another fun night of fame and fashion.  For further updates on future fashion functions, follow @chsanchornews on Twitter, Instagram, and, of course, Fusfoo!
