Peppermint Dessert Packed with Perfection

The Peppermint Dessert

Are you craving a scrumptious dessert? Well, I got the most delicious recipe for you, despite its less than exciting name:  the peppermint dessert. The peppermint dessert is nothing too fancy, but it is very mouthwatering and will definitely make you come back for more pieces.

Preparing the peppermint dessert requires these items:

  • 9 x 13 pan
  • A package of Oreos
  • ¼ cup of melted butter
  • Softened peppermint ice cream
  • 1 or 2 jars of hot fudge (chocolate)
  • A container of cool whip
  • 2 Candy Canes

Making this yummy dessert is pretty simple…

First, you are going to crush the package of Oreos into small pieces. When crushing your Oreos, you do not want to crush them into a fine powder. It is important that you crush it into just small pieces almost the size of a dime.

Next, grab the 1/4 cup of melted butter and pour the butter into the crushed Oreos. You will then mix together. This is most commonly done with a big bowl and a spoon, but there’s nothing saying you couldn’t use a mixer to make the process a little easier.

Take the oreo mixture to the 9 by 13 pan and place it on the bottom and press firmly so that it is packed together. It should become a crust-like consistency.

Take the softened peppermint ice cream and spread it on top of the Oreo crust. To spread the ice cream out, take a spoon and press down.  Smoothing over the ice cream can be done with a rubber spatula, much the same way you might smooth out frosting over brownies.  It’s important to work quickly, however, so if the ice cream isn’t perfectly smoothed over, there’s no need to fret over it.

Put the pan in the freezer until the ice cream starts to harden. This will help secure your two layers and will allow you to add the next layers without them mixing together on accident.

Grab 1 or 2 jars of hot fudge (chocolate) and microwave them until they become warm. Do not make it too hot otherwise your ice cream will begin to melt faster.

Spread the hot fudge on top of the peppermint ice cream.

Let your pan chill in the freezer until everything is hardened.

Lay out the cool whip with a butter knife until it covers your entire pan.

Lastly, take 2 candy canes and crush them into small pieces and sprinkle them on top to give your delicious peppermint dessert the best look.

Put it back in the freezer and enjoy!

This flavorful peppermint dessert is the definition of winter. Whether you like it for the crunch of Oreos at the bottom, the snap of frozen chocolate fudge, the coolness of peppermint, the sweetness of the cool whip, or the combination of its layers, this tasty treat is perfect for spending time with your family and friends during the winter season.
