Everyone should know  Rosa Louise McCauley Parks (1913-2005). She was an African American civil rights activist and seamstress whom the U.S. Congress dubbed the “Mother of the Modern-Day Civil Rights Movement.” Park was famous for her refusal on December 1, 1955 to obey bus driver James Blake’s demand that she relinquish her seat to a white man. Her arrest and trial for this act of civil disobedience triggered the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which was one of the largest and most successful mass movements against racial segregation in history. Her role in American history earned her an iconic status in American culture, and her actions have left an enduring legacy for civil rights movements around the world.

      Rosa Parks was one of the most influential women in history because she stood up for what she believed in and would not let it go without a fight. She wanted to prove that African Americans are people too and that they deserve to have equal rights just like the whites. She was one of the people trying to make the world become a great place by just trying to change and impact certain things such as racism against blacks. There was a boycott in Montgomery that she started to make sure blacks are treated with respect rather than being treated like they are not human beings or citizens of the United States.  In 1996, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Bill Clinton. In 1997, she was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal – the highest ward of Congress. 

     Therefore, Rosa Parks was a woman who has impacted the world. She has inspired people to stand up for what they believe in and their rights. She has helped many blacks have the same equal rights as whites. She created the Montgomery bus boycott to make sure no other blacks have to move their seat on the bus and to make sure that all blacks are treated nicely and with respect. So Rosa Parks is one of the people who have made a huge impact and movement in history and will hopefully still be remembered for years to come.
