The Knife of Never Letting Go

The Knife of Never Letting Go

The Knife of Never Letting Go is the first of a trilogy written by the brilliant Patrick Ness. The book is set in what they call the “New World” which is overrun by a germ that makes everyone able to hear other people’s (and animal’s) thoughts. His family sends him and his dog away to escape the “cursed town” of Prentisstown and he finds Viola. Since he was told that all girls were killed by the germ, he is shocked but still brings her along. Now it is time to outrun the army after them and stay alive.

The book is like Divergent. The two must escape an army just like Tris and Four had to. This book, however, does have the more fictional feel to it with being able to hear everyone’s thoughts and it causes more problems down the road. This is also based in the future as you start to listen to some of what Viola is saying.

Overall, this book was amazing. It wasn’t hard to get through and it went quite easily. It was well put together and there seemed to be new danger around every corner. It puts you on edge and makes you cry while you go through this extraordinary adventure. Thank you, Mr. Ness.
