This year, there are two students going to the All State Chorus from Wellsboro Area High School. Junior, Margret (Maggie) Brennan (Alto; Pictured to the left) and Sophomore Paige Hagy (Alto; Pictured to the right). Maggie Brennan started her singing career when she was in first grade when she began singing with the Hamilton Gibson choir. Paige started her singing when she joined chorus during 8th grade. She thought it would be good for her to join and it would help her piano skills. Both of the girls started competing their sophomore year. To get into the all state chorus, the girls had to compete in a regional competition. During their regional competition, the competitors had to learn songs from various different languages. The girls both agreed that Luk Luk Lumbo (Indonesian) was the hardest song that they had to sing for the competition. Each girl had their own experiences at the regional conference and have different favorite moments. Paige said that her favorite part was sitting on a balcony and listening to the men rehearse their song Loch Lomond. Maggie said that her favorite part was getting to talk to the guest director about the one song they were singing. She said that it brought the ensemble closer together and she learned all the different interpretations of the words in the song. Both girls appreciate singing and chorus in a different way. Paige Hagy loves singing for all the experiences it gives her and how she has been able to connect people through singing. “Every festival and song is a new experience,” the sophomore says. Brennan says that music is extremely important to her and she has loved how much she has learned through singing and competing. Maggie Brennan says, “It also allows me to explore different perspectives through the words of others.” In conclusion, both girls are extremely excited to go to All State Chorus and let’s wish them the best of luck in competing!
