Express Yo-Self

Behind the counter with delightful snacks and the steaming and buzzing machines there are two seniors and a junior who help dedicate an hour and fifteen minutes, two times this week to share their creativity in an edible form.

Shelby Marks and Kaycee Kaltenbach, both in 12th grade, have been working in the Java Hive for three years since it was open. When asked what we should expect the culinary classes to make for the cafe this year, Shelby brewed upon the question, and said, “We do not know about beverages but we created cinnamon apple muffins with caramel drizzle and a chocolate covered pretzel on top.”

I had to ask what their favorite drink was to go with the luxurious muffins they made, and both Kaycee and Shelby said theirs was the Mocha Frappe.

Noah Fitch voiced what he thought of working at the Java Hive, saying, “Fun, I guess. Hahaha!”

I asked Kaycee what the best part about working in the Java Hive and she said, “Getting to work on new ideas.”

Noah got in the last word, saying he was most excited for, “Eating food! HECK YA!!!”
