    There are 120 different types of species of Puffer Fish.

The Balloon fish, Blow Fish, Globe Fish, and the Toadfish are just some of the different types of species of Puffer Fish. Did you know that Puffer Fish contain enough toxins to kill 30 adult men? Most people probably think that male Puffer Fish would be bigger than a female Puffer Fish, but a female puffer fish is bigger than the male. There are so many more facts about Puffer Fish that we yet have not discovered.

    Like all animals Puffer Fish need a safe place to live and food to eat.

All Puffer Fish are omnivorous which means they eat a variety of plants and animals. Puffer Fish usually eat off of algae that grow on rocks and coral. They also will eat invertebrates and shellfish such as shrimp, crabs, and mollusks. Puffer Fish live in shallow waters and coral reefs and like to live in warmer coastal waters around the world.

    The Puffer Fish has much way to protect itself from its predators and many different types of predators. When the Puffer Fish feels threatened it inflates and makes itself inedible to predators. Some species of Puffer Fish will expose sharp spines that contain powerful toxins that can kill humans and predators. One predator of the Puffer Fish is sharks, but specifically the Tiger Shark who will eat anything it comes upon. Since Puffer Fish are not fast swimmers and are not camouflage they make an easy target for the Tiger Shark.

    The Puffer Fish has a small mouth, tube- shaped body and small fins.

They can be variety of colors and have bulging eyes and an elongated snout. Some species of Puffer fish have spines on their body and have very elastic skin and can stretch miraculously. Depending on the type of species of Puffer Fish they can grow up to 60cm in length.

   There are so many different types of animals and they have so many different characteristics.  The Puffer Fish and it has so many interesting things about it from exposing powerful toxins to protect it from predators to living in warm coastal waters. I learned so much about the puffer fish and hope to learn more about another animal in the future.
