Work Horror Stories Part 2

As stated in my previous post about work horror stories, I work at a family fun center. Thus, my job can be slightly hectic at times with all the children that come. However, nothing could have prepared me for the recent catastrophe I endured at work.

It all began when we walked into the kitchen in the morning and saw that the lights were all out in there. Thinking not too much of it, we simply put up some Christmas lights and thought it would suffice.

Then the outlets stopped working on an entire side of the kitchen. The pretzel machine, soda machine, microwave, coffee machine, and ice machine all utilized this in addition to our new source of light. A breaker had apparently tripped and we were tasked with finding out which it was. To make things even better, all of this was occurring during a rush of people. We used extension cords to connect the most important machines to other outlets to prevent complete chaos.

However, we failed to anticipate the flooding the kitchen would endure from the ice machine being off for an extended period of time. Between running back to the breaker room, calling the owner, and mopping up the excess of water covering the floor, we managed to stay afloat.

That is when the CO2 tank for the soda stopped working.

We attempted to change it, but it continued to leak and the subsequent complaints about flat soda rolled in. Between the flooding, complaining, and lack of functioning appliances, it is safe to say that this was not my favorite day at work.
