Boys Basketball Season Recap

The Farmington Knights boys basketball team had their season finished off last Friday night in a District Championship lost to Hillsboro. The Knights final defeat came three nights after possibly their biggest win of the year in their semifinal matchup with cross-town rival North County. The victory was their third win over the Raiders this season, and got them one step closer to the promise land that had devastated Farmington faithful for the past four years.

Farmington took a nine point lead into the halftime break against the Hawks, after Senior Guard and Missouri Baptist commit Brendon Hardy came out firing with 13 first quarter points. The Knights held Hillsboro Center Gaven Pinkley to two first half points, after the D-1 recruit averaged over 20 a game throughout the year and broke the 2000 point mark during the game.

The second half matchup was a different story, as Hillsboro guard and Purdue University Track and Field commit Isaiah Martin held Brendon Hardy to six second half points. The Knights resulted to be no match for Hawks bigs Michael Brewer and Pinkley himself, who finally came alive late in the third quarter.

The Knights defeat was their third year in a row they fell short in the big district tournament game. They will graduate Captain Brendon Hardy, who finished as Farmington's second all time leading scorer. He will be succeeded by Forward Tycen Gray, who is on pace to break Jordan Ankroms school record for points.
