Tonight marks the second meeting of the Farmington Lady Knights and the North County Lady Raiders in the 2017-2018 season. The last meeting ended with the Raiderettes winning by just one single point. The numerous missed layups and even more turnovers set the game in motion and unfortunately, the Knights just couldn't snag the win. It was a heartbreaking and ultimately a turning point for the Farmington Girls Basketball Team.
Tonight was a different night however, the Lady Knights were able to get the win against the long term rivals. The game ended with a low score of 45-41 after numerous fouls committed by both teams. Last week the Farmington Boys' team played the North County Boys' in an epic battle for success; however, the Farmington boys fell short of getting the win, causing tension between the two schools.
The Lady Knights are expected to face North County at least two more times in the 2017-2018 basketball season.
The Lady Raiders struggled in the first quarter, finishing out the first eight minutes with zero points. The second quarter was a little different. The Raiderettes found their groove and were able to put a few points on the board, ending the half 13-12.
Within seconds of the first half the Knights retaliated and pushed to get the lead. It didn't last long though, the rest of the game was back in fourth. The game ended up being decided by free throws, considering both teams were playing very aggressively. The Lady Knights were 10-10 in all of their free throws that they shot within the last two minutes of the fourth quarter.
Pauls was the leading scorer with 17 points on the night and Busse led the Lady Knights in rebounds with 9.
