The Difference of Games Between Now and Then

How long have video games been in this world? The first video game was made in October 1958. Physicist William Higinbotham created what is thought to be the first video game. It was a very simple tennis game. Video games have since been through over fifty years of developing.

The first game was on a round screen and had just blue lines. There is one long line at the bottom and a small line sticking out of the middle, and there’s a “ball” going back and forth. The game is like tennis or ping pong. The players have to hit the ball back and forth until the ball gets to the other side.  Then you’ll get a point.

Then the first gaming console came out in 1972. It was called Atari.  Atari made lots of games that we still know today like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong. In 1985, Nintendo came to America. Nintendo become very popularly when it came out. The first Nintendo console was called Nintendo Entertainment System.  It has sold over 61 million consoles in the United States.

For today’s video games, the graphics are much better and there’s a storyline in most of the video games. There are characters, plots, and subplots in the games. Another difference is that some of the newer games allow players to connect to other people in the world to play with them through the internet. Many more changes are coming in the future.
