On Feb. 10 and 11, junior Cindy Li and sophomore Theo Bookey participated at the District Band festival at Parkland High School. Although neither moved on to region band, the concert and workshops were a rewarding experience for the musicians.
“The guest conductor was amazing to work with because he didn’t just have us play the music, he taught us about it. He taught me to look at music differently and how to understand it, and I feel like a much better musician after having worked with him,” said Li.
“Our students did a great job,” said band director Richard Bullock. “It was a great experience for them. They got to work with Dennis Glocke from Penn State University on very difficult music that varied from a wide range of repertoire.”
