Malcolm X was a major factor in the civil rights movement. In the 1950's during the civil rights movement African Americans were suppressed and were not treated with equal rights as other Americans. African Americans stood up against this and fought for what was right. Malcolm X helped the movement by working alongside Martin Luther King but  he had more physical and radical ideas to end suppression.
