Coup D'What?!! Mugabe Resigns as President of Zimbabwe!

On November 14, the Zimbabwe Defence Forces led a coup d’etat in hopes of removing President Robert Mugabe from power. Mugabe has ruled the country for over 30 years. In that time, he has been accused of corruption, multiple human rights violations, and mismanaging Zimbabwe’s economy.

Mugabe was placed under house arrest, and he emerged for the first time this weekend. He said he did not want to resign as President of Zimbabwe. Angry citizens took the streets of Harare in protest. Before long, Zimbabwe’s military had control of the city. But life still went on for the residents of Harare.

Robert Mugabe announced his resignation on Tuesday, November 21. His decision was widely celebrated across the country.
