Michelle Edwards visits Lee

Staunton is decorated with political signs just as it was this time year. Though we won’t be voting for a new president, we will be voting for a new state Governor, Attorney General, and all seats in the House of Delegates.  This year's election has deep connections with Lee high school as our own Owen Edwards mother is the democratic candidate  for the 20th district delegate. Yesterday Michelle Edwards came to speak to senior government classes where she connected to students with her connections to education. Her history as a teacher and administrator is encouraging for students and parents on the subject of education and youth in our district. Senior Cassidy Sadonis who will be a first time voter had this to say about her visit to Lee “Michele Edwards represents my voice in the General Assembly, not Dickie Bell. Dickie Bell has proven that he represents his donors and not his constituents. It’s time for real, grass-roots change.” Students sported “Michelle for Delegate” T-shirts in the library as she spoke. Either way you lean, it is very exciting for Lee and our city to have Michelle running, someone who knows our public school system well. The election will be November 7th, I encourage students to be engaged with politics, our delegate candidates will affect how our district is represented till the next term.
