Lee High: Pride and Tradition

Robert E. Lee High School has always been a target for ridicule and mockery. As an attending junior at Lee, I observed the negative comments about my own high school long before my freshman year. I believe Lee High School has many great qualities. There are flaws of course, but I am proud to attend and to one day be called an alumna of this school. There is something offered for everyone here at Lee. If academics are not your strong suit, our high school has other outlets available for your individual success and achievements. Lee High offers many programs for students to get involved with, such as Key Club, National Honor Society, SCA, Foreign Language Club, National Art Honor Society, Marching Band, Pep Club, and many other organizations. Along with extra-curriculars, we have an incredible athletic program. Robert E. Lee High School was the recipient of the VHSL Sportsmanship Award; therefore, showing all who entered displayed respect, courtesy, and strong character toward their team, opponents, coaches, and officials. Robert E. Lee High School has many wonderful sides to it that no one ever sees, such as the compassion of our teachers. Teachers at Lee devote their lives to improve the welfare of their students. Many of our teachers have received awards in the past, such as the Dawbarn Education Award. This year my social studies teacher, Mrs. Goss, and our vice principal, Mrs. Swortzel, were two of ten teachers to receive this award.  Many of the teachers here will go out of their way to make sure students feel accepted and are able to obtain the best education possible. The diverse and exciting atmosphere of our high school is what makes Robert E. Lee High School stand above the rest.

I'm a junior at Robert E. Lee High School.
