This announcement is for any students who would like to learn more about the United States Naval Academy as a post-secondary college option.  There will be a bus trip to visit the Academy, which is located in Annapolis Maryland on Saturday March 28th.  The  purpose of this trip is to give interested students and their parents an opportunity to see the Academy first hand, learn about the application/appointment process, and meet with local area high school graduates who are presently midshipmen at the Academy.  If you have an interest in serving your country as an officer, this is a great way to attend college for free, as a degree from the Academy is estimated to be worth approximately $400,000 for the four year program.

Check out the information sheet on Schoology if you would like to learn more!

NOW OVER TO ____ WITH THE NEWS

NEWS INTRO VIDEO

In today’s news, citizens of Baghdad, Iraq woke up this morning to a sight not seen in over a decade, a city covered in snow. Although it wasn’t much, the city hasn’t seen snow since 2008, and for some, the weather allowed for a brief moment of respite amid the recent chaos of political unrest.

On this day in history in 1990, Nelson Mandela was released from prison after 27 years. Mandela is credited as being the leader of the movement to end South African apartheid, a system of institutionalized racial segregation and white supremacy. After his release, Mandela went on to win the Nobel Peace Prize and become South Africa’s president in its first free elections.
