Seniors, It’s time to celebrate your future direction decisions.  You spent the majority of your senior year trying to decide what your future holds and where you would like to be next year.  All seniors who have made the decision to further their education by attending college, technical or trade school, art or nursing school, or who have enlisted in any branch of the armed services, are invited to show EHS where you will be continuing your schooling next year.

Check out the bulletin board outside of the Counseling Office.  If you don’t see your picture there, you can email your counselor, send them a Schoology message, or stop by the Counseling Office  to drop your counselor a note about where you are headed next year (college or military).  Your picture will be posted on the bulletin board outside of the counseling office for everyone to see!  Don't delay!

NEWS INTRO VIDEO

The US has more than doubled tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese products, in a sharp escalation of the countries' damaging trade war. Tariffs on affected Chinese goods have risen to 25% from 10%, and Beijing has vowed to retaliate. China says it "deeply regrets" the move and will have to take "necessary counter-measures." It comes as high-level officials from both sides are attempting to salvage a trade deal in Washington.

In other news,

Amazon entrepreneur Jeff Bezos has unveiled a mock-up of a new lunar lander spacecraft that aims to take equipment and humans to the Moon by 2024. The unmanned, reusable Blue Moon vehicle will carry scientific instruments, satellites and rovers. It will feature a new rocket engine called BE-7 that can blast 10,000 lb of thrust. "It's time to go back to the Moon, this time to stay," said Bezos. Bezos presented the Moon goals of his space exploration company Blue Origin at the Washington Convention Center in Washington DC, to an audience consisting of potential customers and officials from Nasa."

Attention current sophomores and juniors.

Have you ever yearned for the opportunity to manage your own stock portfolio?

Have you ever dreamed of trading on world markets?

Have you ever wondered what it must be like to work in canyons of Wall Street?

Well, next year Ephrata High School will initiate a new club called The Investment Club.

The Investment Club will be made up of Ephrata students who will manage a real $30,000 portfolio.

That’s right -- $30,000.

The Ephrata Area Education Foundation has donated $30,000 to the new Investment Club.

Members of the club will research stocks, make buy and sell recommendations to the investment board, and vote on the purchase of shares.

An informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 15th.  The meeting will be held in Mr. Hagen’s room (208) at 2:40.

Hope to see you there.
