This announcement is for any students who would like to learn more about the United States Naval Academy as a post-secondary college option.  There will be a bus trip to visit the Academy, which is located in Annapolis Maryland on Saturday March 30th.  The  purpose of this trip is to give interested students and their parents an opportunity to see the Academy first hand, learn about the application/appointment process, and meet with local area high school graduates who are presently midshipmen at the Academy.  If you have an interest in serving your country as an officer, this is a great way to attend college for free, as a degree from the Academy is estimated to be worth approximately $400,000 for the four year program.

Check out the information sheet on Schoology if you would like to learn more!

Attention Juniors and Seniors planning on going to Prom this year:  Prom packets will be available online starting this week or you can pick up a copy from Room 209 or outside the Attendance Office.

Tickets will go on sale March 19th and 21st, and again on March 27th and 28th.  Ticket sales will take place in the small classroom in the Media Center.

Prom will take place on April 27, 2019 and will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Reading.  Along with a new venue we also have a new DJ; so come join us and make some Golden Memories.

Students who have obligations will not be allowed to purchase a ticket.  This includes any fees or obligations such as lost books, library fines, lab fees, missing forms, and time owed.  Get your obligations cleared now, and keep them clear so that you can make a “hassle-free” purchase of your prom tickets.

REMINDER:   Students will be seated at tables of ten so gather your friends and purchase your tickets AS A GROUP.

NEWS INTRO VIDEO

The US Federal Aviation Authority has said it will not suspend Boeing 737 Max aircraft despite mounting pressure from senators and workers' unions. The FAA said a review showed "no systemic performance issues" and there is no basis for grounding the aircraft. An Ethiopian Airlines plane crashed on Sunday killing all 157 people on board, in the second fatal accident involving the 737 Max 8 model in five months. A wave of countries and blocs have banned the plane from their airspace. On Wednesday Hong Kong, Vietnam and New Zealand joined the list of countries that had banned 737 Max models.

In other news,

Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman is among more than 40 people charged in a US college cheating scam, according to unsealed court records. The alleged scheme involved helping students cheat on entrance exams, as well as getting non-athletic students admitted on fake athletic scholarships. Elite schools Yale, Stanford and Georgetown were among the destination universities. There was no suggestion that the schools were involved in wrongdoing
