Mrs. Smith, a History teacher here at East Juniata, was teaching her Economics class about budgeting for the future. Instead of just giving examples and talking about budgeting in class, Mrs. Smith gave her students the assignment to imagine that they were living on their own. This meant that her students had to find a job, house, car, and other things that the students would need to live on their own, as well as be able to pay their own bills. The students had to print everything out, including the job posting, house listing, car and car payment. The students also had to find out how much auto, health, and homeowners insurance that they would have to pay. The students were then graded on how well they budgeted.
