The Pentagon is sending over 5,200 troops to the border with Mexico as thousands of Central American migrants walk towards the US in a caravan. General Terrence O'Shaughnessy said Operation Faithful Patriot would focus on Texas, Arizona and California. President Donald Trump earlier said the "invasion" of migrants would find the US military waiting for them. He also told Fox News that "tent cities" would be built to house migrants seeking asylum in the US.

A long-running case over the status of Uber drivers will be heard in the Court of Appeal on Tuesday and Wednesday. The taxi-hailing app is contesting an employment tribunal finding that drivers should be treated as workers rather than self-employed. If classified as workers, Uber drivers are entitled to paid holiday and the minimum wage. Unions calculate this could be worth $20,000 per driver. Uber said the tribunal "fundamentally misunderstood" how it operated. It is the latest stage in a legal battle led by two Uber drivers James Farrar and Yaseen Aslam, who won an employment tribunal in October 2016.

In 1938 Orson Welles and members of his company touched off mass panic with a CBS dramatic radio adaptation of the 1898 novel "The War of the Worlds" by H.G. Wells. The play was so well performed that newspapers reported listeners believed the broadcast to be real and had incited mass panic.

In 1974 Muhammad Ali regained The Heavyweight Title by knocking out George Foreman in the eighth round during the fight billed as "Rumble In The Jungle"
