CALLING ALL 10th GRADE LEADERS! We will be selecting an EHS Sophomore to attend this year's HOBY Leadership Conference.  The conference will be held at Shippensburg University from May 16th - May 19th, 2019.  This is an AMAZING opportunity to develop leadership skills and grow to be able to positively impact our world.  In order to be considered as the selected nominee, please submit a 1-page essay to the Counseling Office by 10/25/18 on the following topic:

What does it take to be a good leader?

In what ways would you consider yourself a good leader?  In what ways do you still have room to grow?

The EHS Mini-THON club is having a Halloween costume contest on October 31st. The contest will consist of three categories: Individual, Duo, and Group costumes and there will be a 1st place winner for each. You can get an application from your homeroom teacher or from Mrs. Socie in room 317 or Mr. Martin in room 210. The $2 entry fee per person and application for the contest are due on October 30th to Mrs. Socie or Mr. Martin.

One of the world's biggest tobacco firms, Philip Morris, has been accused of "staggering hypocrisy" over its new ad campaign that urges smokers to quit. The Marlboro maker said the move was "an important next step" in its aim to "ultimately stop selling cigarettes". But Cancer Research UK said the firm was just trying to promote its smoking alternatives, such as heated tobacco. "This is such hypocrisy," it said, pointing out the firm still promotes smoking outside the UK.

Saudi Arabia has blamed the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi on a "rogue operation", giving a new account of an act that sparked a global outcry. Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir told Fox News "the murder" had been a "tremendous mistake" and denied the powerful crown prince had ordered it. The journalist was last seen entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. The Saudis, under intense pressure to explain the journalist's whereabouts, have offered conflicting accounts.

Attention all students interested in winter sports,  signups are underway on Schoology.  Sports available are :  bowling, swimming, rifle, winter track, basketball and wrestling.   All physical and re-cert paperwork are due in the athletic office by Monday, November 12th.   If you have any  question stop by and see Mrs. Cummings in the athletic office.

There will be an informational meeting for anyone interested in playing softball this Thursday, October 25th, immediately after school in the cafeteria. If you are unable to attend, please contact Coach Yohe in the Intermediate building.

Today in sports, there are no events, but come out tomorrow to cheer on the soccer teams as they enter into the first round of the district tournament. The boys will play at Warwick tomorrow at 7 and the girls will host Chambersburg at home at 7.

There is a dress Code for the CTC Field Trips this week.

You will be required to wear long pants and closed toed shoes to tour the CTC.  You will not be allowed on the field trip if you are not wearing long pants and closed toed shoes!!

If you 're in grade 10, 11, or 12 and  interested in serving our country through the Military, please come down to the Guidance office before October 23rd  to sign up for the ASVAB test.
