SILENCE/FLAG VIDEO

----------------------

Beginning Monday, Ephrata High School will be welcoming 25 students from our sister city of Eberbach, Germany.  They will be arriving Saturday night, and if their flight arrives on time, they may even find the energy after a long flight, to show up at the Homecoming Dance.  Whether or not that happens, they will be coming to school with their American host brother or sister for the next two weeks.  Many of them will be in your classes and in your lunches. They may even try to participate in your after school activities.  They will be fascinated to see their first American Football Game on October 26th following an American Tailigating Party hosted by the National German Society.  While they are here they will visit historic Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and New York City.  They will visit the Ephrata Cloister and be welcomed by the mayor.  They will visit a one-room Amish School House and enjoy an Amish meal on a farm.  Hopefully during their stay, you as a student body, will reach out and welcome them.  Introduce yourselves and make them feel welcome.  They’ve been working at learning English a long time, so you don’t need to fear a language barrier.  But if you’re learning German, try out your skills!  I hope you enjoy learning to know them and realize all the similarities we share with our German friends!

Thanks - Frau Wise

Hurricane Michael struck on Wednesday with winds of 155 mph. It weakened to a storm as it moved inland towards the north-east, but at least six people have died, most of them in Florida.
