Over the past week, Mrs. Graybill’s Career and Consumer Science class has been discussing food safety and overall saving methods. Mrs. Graybill started out by showing us a video regarding how to safely cook food. The class had to complete a packet during the video. There was also a small video, showing the class how to make quick, safe meals. We then moved on to learning more effective ways to save time and money while cooking.
Mrs. Graybill gave the class a hyper doc on Google docs about saving money. We learned how to save money and energy by using microwaves. She showed us a video about simple recipes we could make. We then had to research our own food to make in a mug. The class then submitted the hyper doc and moved on to the next part of the project.
The last part of the project was actually making food. The class was able to split up into groups of five to work in our three kitchens. Mrs. Graybill had a cake recipe ready for us to make. We ended up making a strawberry angel cake in the microwave. The class lined up to get 3 tablespoons of cake mix and then 2 tablespoons of water. We mixed the cake mix in the mug and stuck it into the microwave for a minute. After the minute was up, the cake mix was fluffy and had risen in the mug. Mrs. Graybill then let us top off our cakes with whip cream and sprinkles.
