Hearts That Care

As a reminder or to those that are unfamiliar with East Juniata’s Health and Wellness Club, we have been working throughout the school year to raise both awareness for heart disease and funds for The American Heart Association. The club has completed various projects to support the association such as collecting donations at sporting events and selling heart gram balloons. If you have been keeping updated with the club, you may know that one of February’s projects was creating a poster for outside of Mrs.Graybill’s room in honor of American Heart Month. We hope you had the chance to take a minute to stop and read some of the tips to maintaining a healthy heart. This past month in March, with each member contributing a small expense to do their part, we were able to purchase fleece to make handmade blankets. The blankets will be taken to children at the Geisinger Holy Spirit pediatric unit. We used various patterns including cupcakes, plaid, cheetah, soccer balls, and stars to ensure that both boys and girls have something to enjoy. It does not have to take much to make someone’s day. We hope the blankets will bring a smile to the childrens' faces in the midst of a tough time.
