8 Ways to Serve

On Monday, over 30 of our 8th graders participated in a community service project in the cafeteria as part of their 8 Ways to Serve program.  The enthusiastic students created coloring books to be distributed to children who stay at the Ronald McDonald House or go to the Mary Brennan Inn.  According to 8th grader Julia Gorbea, “A group of friends and I decided to help out.  It made me feel good to do something good for other people.” Coordinated by Ms. Burke and Ms. Rudnet from the Student Service Center, it was yet another opportunity for the MHS community to make the world a little better.

I'm in my 38th year of teaching, 37 of them in Mineola.  I teach 8th and 11th grade English at the high school, and I am the adviser for the Question Mark, the high school newspaper.  I also am assistant director for the spring musical and the adviser for the Creative Writing Club.
