The Spring Musical: Annie

By: Makaila Auker, Tara Feltman, Emilie Gerig, and Sarah Irvin

This year, East Juniata’s TAG! is proud to present our spring musical, Annie. TAG! has been working since early January to prepare for the show. The cast has spent countless hours studying lines, learning dances and songs, and rehearsing on stage in order to perfect the show. A musical would not be a musical without the lovely set and we are grateful to have Mr. Roush and Scott Arnold come up with and build our entire set. Also, a special thanks to Mrs. Kerstetter and her art classes for help painting the set. In addition, we would also like to recognize Mr. Milliken and the pit band for coming together with their wonderful instruments so that everything on stage comes to life. Come out to support everyone involved in the making of this musical!

As stated before, the entire cast, crew, pit band, etc. have put in numerous hours in preparation for our fastly approaching productions. Annie is being lead by TAG!’s very own Lilly Maneval in the role of little orphan Annie, Nicholas Pillot in the role of Mr. Warbucks, Emilie Gerig in the role of Grace, and Sarah Irvin in the role of Ms. Hannigan. In addition to these characters, we have Robert Ferry playing the role of Rooster and Tara Feltman playing the role of Lily, with a bunch of other people playing small, yet just as important, roles. However, TAG! as a whole would not be the same without our amazing director (and school nurse), Penny Ritzman. She does so much for TAG! and we would not be able to put on successful shows without all of her help (and that is a lot!).

Annie is the story of an orphan girl in 1933. Annie and the other orphans live a miserable life because of their nasty caretaker, Ms. Hannigan, who would rather search for a man than watch over several “brats”. After some time, a woman named Grace gives Annie the chance to go Mr. Warbucks’ (the richest man of the time) house for the Christmas holidays. However, this is not without a dark plot to take Annie away by Ms. Hannigan, her brother, Rooster, and his accomplice, Lily. In the meantime, Annie and Mr. Warbucks grow to love each other, so much that he wants to adopt her, however, those plans get foiled by the villains. What will happen? Come to our shows to find out!

With everything you have now learnt about Annie we hope you are wanting more of the story. We encourage each and every one to come see all the work that has been put into this musical. We will be performing Annie March 16th and March 17th 2018. Our performance will begin at 7 in the EJHS auditorium. The tickets are on sale now but they can also be bought at the door the night of performance for five dollars. We would love to have you come watch the show! We look forward to seeing you there!
