Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un are currently planning to meet in person sometime before next May. According to South Korean officials carrying a message directly from Kim Jong Un after meeting with a North Korean delegation, Un has reportedly stated that he is “committed to denuclearization.” The Trump administration has stated in return that they are excited for the prospect of making progress in the peninsula, but that the trade sanctions would also remain unchanged, at least for now

On this day in 1959, the first Barbie doll was put on display at the American Toy Fair in New York City. Barbie was created by a woman named Ruth Handler, who got the idea when she realized that her daughter really only had either baby dolls or paper dolls to play with. Barbie has never been without her criticisms, and ever since she was first unveiled many felt that she created unrealistic body standards for young girls. However, Barbie was able to show girls that they didn't have to conform to any standards that were prevalent in the 1950’s: they could grow up to be anything they want to be.

Do you have a favorite teacher?  Maybe a secret crush you want to acknowledge?  How about a best friend you want to thank for listening to all your problems over the weekend?  If so…..what better way to thank someone than to send flowers!

All this week the JUNIOR CLASS is sponsoring a flower sale.  What a great way to tell someone you’re thinking of them!  Orders will be taken for single stem carnations to be delivered on March 23rd.  We are offering three options— white, pink and yellow.  So send one, or six, or even a “whole bunch” to that special person or people in your life!

You may purchase flowers during your lunch period all week.  Flowers will be on sale during all lunches. Only $1.25 per flower……or better yet—6 for $6. . . now THAT’s a bargain!
