Spring Break Equals Food

Spring Break is a time for many things; to hang out with friends, visit one’s family, and last, but not least, to eat. Oregon is most commonly known for things like having many trees, raining often, and Hells Canyon, but what people do not know is that Oregon has delicious food customs. Here are ten places and foods to try in Oregon during spring break:

10. Junior's Taqueria

Junior's Taqueria is a nice and good pricing Mexican fast food restaurant. A place to go and enjoy a lovely spring meal on a sunny day. It is located on Winter St. in Salem, and is open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday-Thursday. On Fridays-Sunday it is open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

“They have a really good service, they are always there when you need something,” Elizabeth B said.

9. Panda Express

Panda Express, famous for their Orange Chicken first opened in the year of 1983 in California. Since then they have become very popular in many countries. Located by Walmart and many other areas, open from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on Sunday-Thursday and 10 a.m.-10:30 p.m. on Fridays.

8. Mariscos Las Islas Marias

With live music, this restaurant is a great place to hang out and celebrate with one’s family. Mariscos Las Islas Marias has a cross between Mexican food and seafood.  Open 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday, and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday.

7. Great Wall Buffet

The Great Wall Buffet is a great place to have lunch and dinner during spring break. They have a variety of foods to choose from that bring out the spring spirit. The restaurant is located on Commercial St. SE in Salem.

“The stir fry is good, you can chose what you want to put in it,” Ellen Zhang said.

6. Mo’s Restaurant

Mo’s Restaurant, famous for their clam chowder has a great view of the ocean along with great seafood.  When visiting the beach during spring break make sure to stop and he at this place. Open everyday from 11a.m.-9a.m. and located 51st Street Lincoln City.

5. 503 Sushi Bar

For everyone that loves sushi, the 503 Sushi Bar located on Liberty St. in Salem is the perfect place. Open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 12 p.m. -7 p.m. Sunday.

4. . Sizzle Pie

Pizza is a food beloved by the majority of people, and Sizzle Pie has good prices and great pizza too.  Who would not like to eat pizza and hangout with friends  and family during the spring break? This restaurant has locations in Eugene and Portland, Their hours are 11 a.m.-3 a.m. Sun-Thus and 11 a.m.-4 a.m. Fri. & Sat.

3. Vita Cafe

This vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free restaurant screams the season of spring with the fresh products used in the food dishes served there.  The Vita cafe also supports local artists by sponsoring art programs and encouraging creativity.This restaurant is located on Albert St. in Portland and is open 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Sundays-Thursday, Friday-Saturday 8 a.m.-10 p.m.

2. Salt and Straw Ice Cream

Famous for their unique flavors, Salt and Straw Ice Cream is a homemade ice cream shop that originated in Oregon and has opened locations in California and, soon, San Francisco.  A popular flavor for oregon is Honey Lavender, it is located in Portland, Oregon. Their hours are 10 a.m.-11 p.m. everyday.

1. Blue Star Donuts

Blue Star’s recipe is crafted from scratch and  made from a classic brioche that originated from southern France. They make their donuts fresh every day. Blue Star Donuts is located in the portland airport and is open 7 a.m.-8 p.m. everyday.
