On Monday the Russian ambassador to Turkey, Andrey Karlov was shot and killed in in an art exhibit in Ankara, Turkey. The gunman was a 22 year old Turkish police officer who was off duty. He shot the ambassador 7 times before he stood over the body of the Russian ambassador and yelled "God is great", and "Don't forget Aleppo, Don't forget Syria!" he also wounded 3 others during the assassination. The gunman was killed shortly after in a shootout between himself and the Turkish special forces. The assassination was tied directly to the conflict with Syria, and was an attempt to sabotage relation between Russia and Turkey.
