Benefits of Music Education

They are many different questions that may come up when talking the relevance of music education. The questions that has been left unanswered as of now is, "What importance do music programs and music education have on students, or how will some students benefit from learning music?" The question is answered by the way we interpret the question.

Musical education in schools is only known to increase a students performance in a classroom setting. Studies show that students who study music education tend to have a larger vocabulary, and also are known to have more advanced reading skills which may be lacking in a person who doesn’t study music.  Student attendance rates are higher for students who study music education, rather than those who don’t. Musical education is also known to give schools better attendance rates, as schools with a music program are reported to have a 93.3% attendance rate, considerably higher than those who don't (about 8.4% higher).

Not only this, but studies show that schools with high quality music programs score 17% higher on math tests and 19% higher on English tests than schools without a music program.

Music programs only help students, and yet they still are in danger of being cut from a many major schools main courses. Music brings people together, as a universal language. Music is meant to benefit students, and the studies show that this is true. All schools should include music education, as it is only beneficial to students.
