The Cloister FFA Chapter will be pre-selling whoopie pies during lunches today in the cafeteria in celebration of National FFA Week. Both classic chocolate and chocolate chip whoopie pies are available for $2 each. If you are interested in purchasing whoopie pies, please stop by their table in the cafeteria today. You must pay when ordering. Distribution of whoopie pies will be directly to each homeroom during ACT on Thursday, February 24th.

The Bronx Zoo's Name a Roach program, now in its 11th year, offers an unusual way to show your undying love. For $15, you can name a Madagascar hissing cockroach after your special someone. The money benefits the Wildlife Conservation Society, a nonprofit organization, the zoo's website says.
 
It's a gift designed to last. After all, "roaches are forever," the site reminds us. You'll get a certificate to memorialize the gift.

The Ephrata National Bank scholarship application is now open for seniors!  Log in to www.epnb.com to apply for the Hibshman, Brossman, Mellinger, and Wolf scholarships.  Remember to submit your application and any supporting documentation by the due date of March 31st.  See the counseling office with any questions.

This is a reminder for all 9th and 10th grade students to login to your PowerSchool portal to enter course requests for next year.  Be sure to research all course options, checking out course descriptions and prerequisites for each courses you are interested in, as well as to consider pathway elective opportunities for next year.  The course selection portal closes for 10th graders on Wednesday February 16th midnight and Wednesday February 23rd at midnight for 9 graders.

Friday, bowling won 7-0 against Conestoga Valley. In the pool, Ava Knopsnyder had a 1:53.15 in the 200 freestyle for a more than three-second margin of victory.
 
Saturday in Rifle championships,
 Ava Howard medaled and finished 7th in the league Individuals Tournament with a score of 199 and 1 center.
 
The Ephrata Rifle team as a group finished 4th in the combined event with a score of 981 and 5 centers.
 
On Saturday, the Ephrata Track & Field team traveled to Lehigh University to compete in the Pennsylvania Track & Field Coaches Association Meet. Some notable performances were:
 
    Enrico Faccio setting a new school record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.55 seconds and placing 7th.
    Kyle Emery setting a new school record in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.92 seconds.
    Noah Keller setting a personal record and placing 2nd in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:59.33.
    The boys 4x400 meter relay team of Kyle Emrey, Noah Keller, Enrico Faccio and Miles Campbell placing 5th and recording a season personal record time of 3:35.00
Congratulations to all competitors for a great meet.
 
and swimming continued winning with Ethan Lloyd, winning the boys 500 free in 4:47.05, and Ava Knopsnyder winning the girls 500 free.
 
Girls basketball will continue in the tournament after winning at Manheim Central 36-33. Brynn Adams led Ephrata with nine points. They get one more win-or-fall challenge in Tuesday’s semifinals against L-L Section One champ Penn Manor, which edged Lampeter-Strasburg in a quarterfinal Saturday.
