MHS THINKS PINK!

The Girls Varsity Soccer team and the Mineola Volleyball team played their Think Pink games recently. The Think Pink games spread awareness for breast cancer; the Girls Soccer team sold shirts and donated the money to breast cancer research while the Volleyball team made posters.

The volleyball game was Wednesday October 13 at 4:30 in the Mineola gym. At the "Dig Pink" game, the whole gym was decorated with pink streamers, balloons, and posters to show the team's support. They won in 4; they won the first two sets, lost the third and won the fourth. Team Captain Daniella Speranza lead with 11 kills and 14 digs. Setter Nicole Cruz had 13 assists and 4 aces. Overall, it was an incredible game with the whole team playing amazingly.

The soccer game was Friday October 15 at 6:30 at Hampton Field. The bleachers at Hampton were decorated with pink streamers and balloons. The girls won a thrilling game, 6-2. Goalie Elizabeth Brenes had 4 saves. Kayla Lima, Alison Sandoval, and Rory Meehan all had a goal, and Mimi Burns and Mia Wasnofski both scored twice. It was a great game.
