In today's news, a new variant of COVID 19 has appeared in parts of England. The government advisors have said they are confident that it is more able to transmit than other variants. The new variant has been blamed for more restrictions in England, Scotland, and Wales. It was first detected in September and by November around a quarter of the cases in London were the new variant. In December that number reached nearly two thirds. Viruses like the flu mutate all the time so this shouldn't be much of a worry scientists say that it is vital to keep an eye on if the virus changes its behavior.
