World Health Organization Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, stated the most ominous warning yet, “Our window of opportunity [for containing the virus] is narrowing so we need to act quickly before it closes completely.” Other experts are saying that new developments in how the disease is spreading suggest stopping the virus is no longer a realistic option and Covid-19 is will eventually become a global pandemic.
Something to keep in mind is that a disease outbreak can become a pandemic without being especially severe or fatal and so far the death toll from this the coronavirus is less than the average numbers caused by influenza.
