The Mott Haven section of the Bronx is a community with among the worst health outcomes in the state - triple the average hospitalization rates, 42% obesity rate, high diabetes, hypertension and more. BronxWorks established the Shop Healthy Program to combat this. Through the program, middle school students in the area are working with area businesses, fellow students and community members to improve access to healthy food and encourage people to make healthier eating decisions.
