In 2018, Marvel Studios celebrated 10 years of production. In that year, the studios released three movies which garnered over 4 billion dollars in worldwide box offices, Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Black Panther (which has become the first superhero movie to be Oscar nominated for best picture).
Marvel is not stopping in 2019. Three new superhero movies are expected to drop this year, and this is what you need to know:
This movie is an origin story for the title character, Captain Marvel, portrayed by Brie Larson. It will follow Captain Marvel’s alternate identity, Carol Danvers (a U.S. Air Force pilot) in the year 1995. Danvers will discover things about her past and her identity. This movie is slated to premiere on March 8th.
This highly anticipated sequel to Avengers: Infinity War will follow the remaining heroes after the events of the first movie. Not much is know about this film, including the affects Thanos’ snaps including the fates of many fan favorite and the state of the universe. What is know is that the heroes are in a very different state, mentally and physically, than they were in the first movie— and Hawkeye will appear. Avengers: Endgame will mark the end of the third phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This movie is to be released on April 26th.
Spider-Man: Far From Home
The Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel will be the final movie of Marvel’s 2019 lineup. It is the first movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s fourth phase. The time setting of this movie is still unknown, and it will most likely depend on the events of Avengers: Endgame. Far From Home will follow the friendly neighborhood superhero (played by Tom Holland) on a school field trip around Europe. While on the trip, Nick Fury recruits Peter Parker to fight the Elementals, alongside Mysterio. In addition to Tom Holland, this movie stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Samuel L. Jackson, and Cobie Smulders. Spider-Man: Far From Home is set to be released on July 5th.
