Time

Take your coat off
Stay a while
You can only travel so many miles in a day
Why are you in a rush?
Where do you run to go?
Though this I ponder and ask
I may truly never know
You are fleeting
As you are here
Holding us close
We can’t keep you near
If we chase you
We waste you
If we praise you
That won’t change your mind
You’re gone before we can catch you
Just a concept we can’t latch you
But we can fear
We can dread
Worrying about each end
And the end of our all
So much panic and pain
We can fall... down to you
New beginnings
Yes there’s hope
But your hope is a rope that is slipping through our hands
Where we land
They say only you will tell
So we live and we wait
Only you hold our true fate
But though I ponder
I won’t ask
There’s nothing you seem to give back
You are here and then you’re gone
Yet never ending
This I’ve wondered all along
But though I wonder
I don’t know
Why you stay only to go
