Claire Loses her Battle

Claire Wineland, who made a name for herself chronicling her brave battle against Cystic Fibrosis on social media, has died at age 21 from a stroke occurring soon after receiving a double lung transplant. Her short life remains an inspiration to the many followers who shared her journey.

Nike Drafts Colin K. 

Nike is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its iconic “Just Do It” campaign with an ad featuring controversial quarterback Colin Kaepernick. With it's longstanding and lucrative deal with the NFL, Nike may be facing a backlash not only from consumers who disagree with Kaepernicks political views, but from the NFL which is involved in an arbitration case with the former NFL quarterback.

“Believe in something,” the message superimposed over Kaepernick’s face declares. “Even if it means sacrificing everything.”

Brazil Loses Its History

Much of Brazil's historical legacy was destroyed in a late night fire that tore through the National Museum of Brazil, in Rio De Janeiro. The building, which had recently celebrated it's 200th anniversary, was originally the home of the Portuguese royal family. The museum contained over 20 million items including the oldest human remains ever found in the Americas. It's loss is a devastating one for Brazil which is in the throes of economic and social upheaval caused by widespread political corruption.
