Kofi Annan Dies 

Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary-General and Nobel Peace Prize winner who devoted much of his life and career on fighting poverty, injustice, and disease across the world, has just died at age 80. Many say that Annan redefined the role of the UN, especially when it came to it's mission in Africa. His 2001 Nobel Prize reflected his efforts to modernize the UN "for their work for a better organized and more peaceful world."

Pure Romance

We love romance, especially when it includes our favorite Jonas Brother, Nick. Recently engaged couple Nick Jonas and actress Priyanka Chopra celebrated with a traditional Roka ceremony in the bride to be's hometown of Mumbai. If it wasn't all so beautifully distracting we'd still be upset that all of the Jonas Brothers are off the market.

Mourning for Italian Bridge Victims 

More than 40 people were killed after the Morandi Bridge, a major thoroughfare leading out of Genoa, Italy, collapsed during heavy rainfall. The bridge was undergoing work to shore up it's foundations at the time. The exact cause of the bridge collapse is still unclear. The tragedy has brought to the forefront issues of infrastructure failure in major cities across the world.
