Lebron’s Promise

Despite his move to the Lakers next season, Lebron James proved that he is a real hometown hero. Lebron is paying it forward and using his influence to help at-risk youth in his hometown of Akron, Ohio by creating the I Promise School. The I Promise School is collaboration between James’ philanthropic foundation and Akron Public Schools with 240 third and fourth graders making up the inaugural class in the fall.

Trump Picks a Fight

Why did President Trump choose now to question the intelligence of Lebron James? Just days after James’s I Promise School opened in Akron, the President tweeted:

"Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!"

The tweet was met with immediate backlash from sports figures and civil rights activists questioning the tweets racist overtones and the timing.

Melania Takes a Stand

Even the First Lady took a side in the Lebron mess, tweeting out her support for LeBron James and his charity work less than a day after the President went after  the NBA superstar in a late night tweet storm.
