The Billionaire Problem

According to a report by Oxfam, the net worth of the world’s billionaires combined was $462 billion in 2017. That is enough money to end extreme poverty across the globe seven times over. What can be done about the fact that 82 percent of wealth created across the globe was earned by only the top 1 percent? Economic inequality is one of the biggest issues of the modern world and it's not just a problem in third world nations. The three richest men in the US earn as much wealth as the 160 million poorest people living in this country. Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon, made over $35 billion in 2017 to become the richest man in the worldby surpassing last year's high earner, Microsoft CEO Bill Gates. It's important to build a world economy that doesn't leave the majority of people out of the equation.
