The holy month of Ramadan will now begin on May 17th. Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam and commemorates the Quran being revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. It is honored by Muslims worldwide with fasting during daylight hours and religious reflection all during the month. Ramadan ends at the start of the next lunar month with the beginning the holiday Eid al-Fitr. To be respectful of someone celebrating Ramadan, you can greet them by the saying, "Ramadan Mubarak."
